My First Blog Post

On Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, I walked to my car, turned on the camera, and just started talking. Prepared to make a drive across the Midwest to see some sporting events at places I had never been, I cleared my mind. Later that evening, I arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and turned my camera on once more. I had no vlogging experience to speak of, but I had a dream of sharing my sporting experiences with people. So, I turned the camera on and just went for it.

A little over one year later, I have repeated the process from above just over 50 times. The sports changed, the venues changed, the company I had changed, the weather changed, so many things changed. And yet, one thing did not change across 50+ vlogs. I shared my thoughts before entering a stadium, filmed the things I saw in the stadium, and then spoke about what I saw afterward. As of writing it is Friday, May 16th, 2025. Today marks another beginning: my first blog post.

Just like that night in Milwaukee some 13 months ago, I am just trying to find my footing. On one hand, I fully intend for this vlog to be an extenuation of the Traveling Sports Nerd. I would love for this to be a companion piece for my vlogs. A place where I can provide a deeper dive into my vlog experiences. A place where I may not be as nervous to ruffle some feathers with critiques!

But I do not intend for this blog to solely be a place for vlog companionship. Not to get emotional (this will not be the last time I do), but I want this to be a place where I am a little more comfortable with being vulnerable. I want to talk about my opinions and observations on sport that go way beyond my vlogs. Subjects like national playoff conversations, opinionated rankings, and even potentially issues outside of sport are things that I would like to explore here.

If this sounds like something of interest to you, welcome aboard! I look forward to talking about a wide range of topics and hopefully interacting with you. If this sounds a little bit deeper than just upbeat sports vlogs and is not your cup of tea, that is completely understandable! I look forward to sharing my next vlog with you on YouTube.

This website has been the result of ~1 week of spending hours designing this site. I intend for this to be a place to see new videos, share blog posts, and share my pin collection. The pin collection is one of the things I am most excited about. It will still be under construction as the site goes live. I am so proud of what I have uploaded so far, and I am excited for you all to see the finished product. Although with how crazily I collect pins, will the product ever be finished?
